The Consultant’s Take
Best Fit For:
Families committed to authentic Montessori who also want real Mandarin fluency. IMS is Hong Kong’s first through-chain Montessori school, with AMI-standard classrooms each staffed by one English-native and one Mandarin-native teacher. Best for families who buy into self-paced, hands-on learning; not for those wanting structured exam prep or a recognised terminal qualification.
The “Insider” Tip:
The real strategic issue is the exit: even with the new Middle School, IMS currently runs to about age 14 and sets no external exams, so families should plan a secondary transfer (often Year 9 or 10 entry via CAT4 or IGCSE-readiness testing) from day one. The younger campuses (South Horizons, Aldrich Bay) are the realistic entry door; Stanley primary is harder to enter mid-stream.
